Dear John,
We have never met, but I have been greatly helped by your preaching and writing.
I am a Church Pastor and find myself turning to your writings again and again; and always to great profit.
Thank you for giving yourself and your skills to “the work of the Lord”, and equipping us to be better servants of the Word than we would otherwise be.

John,
Haappy Birthday.
You have set a formidable example for the rest of us who shall never catch up. May God give you much joy and peace on this special day. We have finished our teaching in Ethiopia for now. I am only 72, but do have some health issues that keep me closer to home most of the time. It is my privilege to work with Mark Kiekhafer and Elaine Vaden giving pastoral care to the JSM scholars at TEDS where we benefitted from your teaching many times between 1972 and 1985.
May God continue to give you health and strength for each day.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Stott. Thank you for the example of holiness you provided me throughout many years of reading your books, hearing you preach, studying at the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity, and personal correspondence with you. Because of your influence, today I am married to a Godly man from India. God moves in mysterious ways, and it is wonderful. I’m thankful that HE used you to influence me in HIS holiness.
The Lord bless you with perfect peace and strength to fulfill the mission HE has given you.

Brother John, May the Lord Bless you for many years to come. You are so loved by many of us Yanks. Listening to you teach on Romans, back in 1992 (or there about), at St Stephens, Sewickley I was blessed as the word of God was opened to my ears, heart and mind. I thank God that you have given Him your life in humble service. Your heart for missions, your love for Jesus and your sweet spirit inspire us throughout the world.

Happy birthday, Uncle John!
I praise God for your vision, your ministry and the life you continue to model for us. May His blessing presence continue to surround you as you devote your time to prayer, writing, and conversations with friends and visitors. It is for me a privilege, an honor and a challenge to be called a “John Stott Scholar,” and I trust the Lord to continue to lead us all who have been given this honor to present ourselves to Him as people approved, workers who do not need to be ashamed and who correctly handle the word of truth. Dear John,
How Babby and I wish that we could be with you to celebrate your 87th birthday, like we did in 2001, when we came to England to celebrate your 80th birthday, with a tour of your beloved Rugby School, Trinity College Cambridge and the House of Lords ,with lunch on the Thames, topped off with a big party at All Souls Church. We talk often about what a the wonderful occasion that was for us. This past year I wrote a short autobiography for my children, in which I passed on to them the enormous impact you had on my life — your many helpful books (I am now re-reading “The Cross of Christ”), modeling what it means to be a Christian, and our years of friendship, beginning with our first meeting on the Sea Cloud in 1992 — and the years of working todgether, first on the little book I wrote on the Christian faith, then doing the video “Life’s big Questions” and, finally, serving for several years on the board of JSM. Mungu akubariki sana (”May God bless you much”) my dear friend, mentor and brother in Christ. John and Babby Schwarz.

It was in college through Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship USA that God drew me to Himself and I came alive in Him. After hearing you at The Urbana Missionary Conference in 1974, I have read almost everything you have written over the past 30+ years, and currently using “Through the Bible” to great edification. I consider you a personal mentor!
Bless you on this birthday for your incredible faithfulness to the Lord and His Word. In an age of much tawdry, self-centered “leaders”, you have modeled integrity at the highest and have consistently inspired me to press on in my faltering discipleship. I thank our God for creating you, gifting you and stirring up a servant heart to minister to countless thousands. To Him be the glory!!

Dear John,
Happy birthday Dad!!!
I pray God to grant you long joyful life. Since 1986, i continue to read your books with great enthusiasm; i shall continue to interact with you for many years to come. Your writing, faith, love, and sermons have touched many across the globe. I was unfortunate to hear you speaking at Urbana (Ill USA) conference Dec 2003 DUE TO ILL-health. We prayed and God added more years to your life. He continues to do so because there are more souls to be won , and great global fields for Gospel to thrive.
May God grant you long life.

As a theological double first cousin, Methodist, Your visit in London in summer 1972 shapped the remainder of my 42 year ministry. I’m grateful! I’v commended your books and Videos to so many, frustrated by the theological wasteland, that I’ve come to think of myself as a “Methopalian” Happy Birthday! I’m glad to know your rich mind is not languishing from non use. I await your latest book.
Just remember, as you get older, as a 102 year old remarked to her Dr. at her annual exam, when he questioned her remark, “I’ll see you next year!” The Dr. retorted, “At your age how can you say that?” She replied, “Read the obituaries, Very few people die between the ages of 102 and 103.”

Dr Stott we have never met, but I first heard you as a young med.student at the IVF conference at Swanwick in the mid fifties & most recently in Belfast in ‘07. This morning I used a quotation from Through the Bible - Through the Year in teaching my Sunday School class of “girls” in their seventies. I place great value on words from this fine man who has allowed God to use him to help so many of us.
Thank all of you for your great ministry that I receive here in East Texas, USA.
I am sending prayers for Dr. Stott to have many more years of writing and teaching. Hope I can get a copy of the book he is working on.

Happy Birthday, John
I thank the Lord for you and I know you will enjoy hearing from this Christian brother who has been impacted by hearing you and Chris Wright speak at my church in Grand Rapids, Michigan which is Thornapple Evangelical Covenant Church. A week ago last Saturday, I was wonderfully impacted by 3 passionate Christians that came to Thornapple to share what is happening dramatically in the ministries in their part of the world that the Lord has called them to be in leadership. John Stott Ministries supported this Global Church Tour. Thanks to you and all who are affiliated with John Stott Ministries for all you are doing for the furtherance of the Lord’s kingdom. Dr. Chung, Dr. Sanguma, and Dr. Parushchev each had powerful testimonies that were inspiring and challenging at the same time. So be encouraged on your 87th birthday as to the fantastic ways God is blessing all over the world.

Dear Brother in Christ, John,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I thank God for your life and ministry. As I was pursuing God’s call on my life, your teaching was tremendously innfluential. I remember your biblical teaching at URBANA ‘76 on the Missionary God from the OT, Gospels, Acts and Epistles. I believe it was in the compendium from Urbana ‘73 that I read your exposition of 2 Timothy which has impacted my life ever since–perhaps a strong reason why our son is named Timothy. I remember you speaking when I was a student at Seattle Pacific in the early 1970s. Your biblical exposition haas been a model for me as a missionary in Zaire/Congo,AFrica and Mexico and now again as a stateside pastor. May God continue to bless you day by day.

Congratulations at your birthday Uncle John! or may be I should call you Daddy. Your Christian life exemplifies our Lord Jesus whose food was to preach the Gospel. I benefit from your labors, and I pledge my faith and honor that I will in turn exemplify your model in my country Nigeria in reaching out with the Gospel to the unreached and also strengthening the believers. May the Lord bring more joy to your life.
April 29th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
We have never met but I have listened to many of your sermons and read many of your books. For the 31 years I have lived I have never heard anybody else teach the word of God with as much clarity as you have done. Though I was already a disciple of Christ when I first heard and read you much of my discipleship has been influenced by your sermons and writings. I have always thanked God for you, and do so even now, as I wish a happy birthday! The Church of Christ in Kenya (to which I belong) and elsewhere badly needs more and more Balanced Biblical Christian (BBC as you always put it) leaders of your type.

Dr. Stott
Thanks for leaving such a wonderful legacy of books, lectures, and above all, friendships. I regret that you and I never did get to know each other very well..I always hoped that some day you would preach here at Moody Church, but I neglected to connect with you when you visited America. I believe that growing old gracefully and being content with the Lord is a wonderful testimony that it is the Divine Presence that we most cherish and not the things God lets us do.
Blessings to you for many years to come.

Dear John:
From Princeton, NJ, I catapult my very best wishes to you, so far away. I sent an E-mail to the Princeton Theological Students Fellowship to tell of your notable Birthday. With great pleasure I recall your visit to them about 10 years or so ago, and my gift then to them all of THE BIRDS OUR TEACHERS, which you autographed. I recall celebrating your 80th Birthday, with you and a busload of your friends from North America, to visit the chapel at the Rugby School where you sought the Lord, and the Worship at All Ssouls, where so many special greetings, including from the Queen were read out to us all. To God be the Glory, John. AEREON’s current Defense contract is to learn to land as birds do, so as to reduce runway needs. Indeed: the birds are our teachers! Allen Weir just underwent cancer surgery, and is recovering in Brighton. - Your friend in Christ, Bill Miller, Jr.

Happy Birthday John: In 1996, at St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, CA., you gave a wonderful talk on the greatest challenges we (the church) face today. I’ve almost memorized all of it…you’ll remember this……”there once a nymph named narcissus, who thought of himself quite delicious…..”
Thank you John and God bless you richly. (Kenton Beshore is my pastor)

Dear Uncle John
I look back at my formative years at All Souls with profound gratitude to the Lord.
I remember on one particular Sunday a group of us at ASIF under Eva Glass was leading
intercessory prayer in the main worship. You were preaching on Isaiah 53. I understood
what preaching was about for the 1st time. I was drawn in humble worship into the Throne
room of God, seeing more clearing and admiring more dearly His wondrous love for me.
“Thank you for giving yourself to the Lord. I am a life that was changed. Thank you for
giving to the Lord. I am so glad you gave”

John, around the year 1956 you held a mission at the Univ. of Toronto. I was a brand new Christian at that time enrolled in Pre-medicine. I still remember your object lesson. You held up your keys and said that seekers after faith have to make a decision regarding the keys to their lives: Will they insist upon keeping them in their grasp, or will they hand them over to God. Since then I have heard you speak several times and have read a number of your books. As a volunteer physician in several developing countries, I have found your book “Christian Mission in the Modern World” especially helpful. As an Anglican, I have applauded your thoughtful insights on the current crisis within our Church. As a bird photographer, I have enjoyed pouring through your book, “The Birds, Our Teachers”. It is evident that you have been a significant mentor to me in many ways, and I am grateful to God for your continuing ministry. A belated “Happy Birthday!” — John Warnica, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Dearest Uncle John,
Warmest congratulations!
We still have the fond memories of your visit to us in Lebanon and Syria. We are so grateful for your legacy and investment in our lives and ministry.
In the Orthodox tradition the priests pray for the patriarch saying: “For many good years to come, our lord.” We also pray: “For many great and fruitful years to come our friend, brother, mentor, and leader.”

Thank you for inspiring generations of Timothys to embark on the road in serving God, and for staying with them all the way. Your exposition on 2 Timothy “Guard the Gospel” still stayed with me and has been a guiding light for nearly forty years. For your mentoring, prayers, and friendship, thank you. Happy birthday.

Dear Uncle John:
I still recall vividly my very first time of meeting with you at Wheaton College in 1990/91 for what was then an “interview” (I suppose)–for the Langham Foundation (now JSM). Although familiar with your name/ works, I still did not know what to expect–and I never knew why it was set up that way, since I was at TEDS for my PhD prog. The interaction, I must say, proceeded and ended very well, and thanks for the freedom (”all speech”) I was given on that occasion! Through those years of preparation, as we call them, you showed interest in my work & its progress (a point I noted in my revised PhD thesis). You knew well the direction of my work and gave encouragement. The issues are still on & Christian self-definition is much more urgent for Christians in Africa now… Your commendation of the work was treasured! Our passion for a more biblically-oriented theol. education for Africa is part of what has kept us at JETS (Jos, Nigeria) over 12 yrs. and is now taking new roots in Hokma House–Ctr for Bib Research… It’s your passion that has contributed to this, & I’m glad I caught it. This is what makes a birthday celebration at 87 truly significant. It’s a living legacy, and you’ve, as I’ve “interpreted” you, sought to emulate the Apostle Paul in your yrs. of ministry, but all to the glory of Christ. Thanks for pointing the way for the rest of us! Evangelical Christianity is here to stay–thanks for guiding us toward that end!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! FROM “OLU” & KASHO

Dear Uncle John
This is Gladys Mwiti of Kenya. Together with my husband, Gershon Mwiti, we think of you often and thank God for your investment into our lives.
Do you remember you are the one who led me to apply for a scholarship from FACT and CISF when I was wondering how I could ever apply and study for a Doctorate at Fuller Seminary’s School of Psychology?
Your letter written to me in 1998 remains in my file to this day.
May God continue to shower you with his love and care.
May you current book be filled with utmost wisdom for God’s Church in our day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Gladys and Gershon Mwiti
