Dear Friends,
I am pleased to let you know that your ability to support Majority World pastors through John Stott Ministries (JSM) has been amplified as a result of two substantial matching grants from a leading Christian foundation.
As you may know, over the years, JSM has been the beneficiary of a number of generous grants from Christian foundations. Most of these organizations have seasoned professionals who interact regularly with our staff, requesting proposals, statistics and reports. We feel fortunate to have the type of relationships (and ministry results!) that keep foundations interested in what God is doing through JSM. One foundation in particular has kindly offered JSM two matching grants. Here are the details:
1) The first matching grant provides $56,050 to support our Preaching and Literature Programs in Africa and Asia if our supporters contribute at least that amount. This grant will support three strategic initiatives:
a. a pilot program for preaching in India that will bring together key players from various agencies, denominations and missions in India to evaluate the present state of informal training for pastors and lay preachers and to assess how JSM can be involved;
b. a regional facilitator for our Preaching Program in Africa to coordinate and support our growing and active preaching movements in 13 African countries; and
c. initial work on the South Asia Bible Commentary (SABC), which will be the first full Bible commentary written by South Asian biblical scholars for Asians. The general aim of the commentary is to make the Word of God speak relevantly to today’s realities in South Asia. The SABC specifically targets Christian leaders at the grassroots level—pastors, students and lay leaders—who, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, can be instrumental in the establishment and nurture of churches.

2) The second matching grant is a 1:3 match, providing $61,500 when JSM raises at least $184,500 to support our “stay-at-home” Scholars Program. Specifically, it helps 21 Majority World scholars pursue and complete their Ph.D. studies in the Majority World, after which they will take positions of leadership in their home countries (DR Congo, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Lebanon, Mozambique, and Nigeria).

In the event more is raised than the required match amounts, your contribution will still be gratefully received and applied to support the program(s) you wish to support.
It is through the support of such Christian foundations—and especially through the regular contributions of faithful JSM friends such as you—that our programs are able to be expanded and enhanced to further the cause of Christ in the Majority World. Your contribution to the JSM Preaching and Literature Programs in Africa and Asia and/or JSM’s “stay-at-home” Scholars Program will be further leveraged by this foundation grant. Please enhance your support of these programs and donate now to participate in the matching grant campaign. We thank you for your consideration.
With gratitude for your faithful support and warm good wishes in Christ,
Ken Perez
