Please pray for this specific needs from JSM-Langham scholars, graduated scholars, staff, board members, and supporters.

Praise God! I have got home safely and having fun with family members. My wife and kids are so happy and did not let me go out for the past seven days. I just got their permission and came out to check my emails and respond. Unfortunately, there is no power in our neighborhood and I needed to go to the other part of the city where there is power.
Regarding life in this part of the world, many things have changed in the past two years alone. All what I see and hear is misery. Here in the capital (Addis Ababa), homes get electricity every other day. I am trying to adjust myself to the context! I appreciate your prayers for this land and especially for the poor majority.

Langham Scholar Aldrin Penamora requests prayer for Christine, his wife, as she grieves the passing of Anne Goldingay, wife of Dr. John Goldingay. Anne passed away on Sunday, after many of years of enduring multiple sclerosis. Christine has cared for her for the past three years. This situation also affects their support as Christine’s earnings have been a key part of their income.

Thank you for your prayers for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. Here are some items for this week of June 29-July 5.
Bolivia: this week LP Latin American coordinator Igor Amestegui will be teaching at the annual conference of the SIM in Cochabamba, Bolivia, a gathering of 50 missionaries from across the country. Igor is just back from Argentina (thank you for your prayers for his meetings there!), and so please pray that God will give him grace and wisdom in expounding the book of Habakkuk, and that this will strengthen all of the participants.
Belize: from Wednesday to Saturday this week, Spanish-speaking and English-speaking pastors gather for the LP level 1 seminar. Please pray for Lance Lewis, country coordinator, and facilitators Barry Wade and Paul Carter (English track) and Daniel Salinas (Spanish track). Please pray for good attendance and for enthusiasm to establish a fellowship of preachers in the country.
Turkey and Pakistan: thank you for your prayers for these two countries last week. In Turkey some 70 pastors and lay preachers were involved in the training in two cities, and we hope that some small preachers clubs will be started. First news from Pakistan is that the event went very well, with 34 pastors taking part. Please pray for plans for the future development in both countries. Please pray for Paul Windsor, Associate Director of LP, now back home following an extended trip to Hong Kong, Australia, Solomon Islands and Pakistan.
Caribbean: following the recent LP event in Grenada, which welcomed a small group from Guyana and Trinidad, we have heard that Stanley and Harold have started 2 preachers clubs in Guyana, with a third on the horizon. Trinidad has formed a coordinating committee with a view to launching an LP programme in Port of Spain. And Grenada has 4 groups planning to meet on the island. Please pray that the work will grow in these three countries.
Thank you for your prayers.

Seble Daniel of Ethiopia has written to request prayer that the rains will come to Ethiopia. The rains have not begun as expected and there is great concern among the people.

Pleae pray for these scholars:
Joshua and Bethel Lorin:
Joshua and Bethel have been caring for her brother who has been on dialysis for over two years. He has been waiting for a transplant donor. One of his relatives, a young woman of 21, has offered to be the donor. She and his father are applying for a visa, which they hope could be issued this week. There is still some uncertainty, however, as once she arrives, she needs to go through a series of tests to see if she is a suitable donor. This may take about a month, according to Joshua. Please do remember this family in prayer.
Bharathi Nuthpalati’s sister has been receiving treatment for cancer and it appears the chemo/radiation has been successful. Bharathi is obviously encouraged.
Esther and her three children leave for China this week. She is somewhat apprehensive as the Chinese government has quarantined some visitors for a week because of the “swine” flu epidemic. Pray this will not be necessary in their case.
Remember Wondaferahu Ersulo as he returns home to Ethiopia.

Thank you for your prayers for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. Here are some items for this week of June 15.
Solomon Islands: thank you for your prayers for Chris Mulherin and his family. We are pleased that they are well and the tests for H1/N1 were negative. They will travel today to the Solomon Islands, to join Chris Wright, Paul Windsor and Wendy Toulmin for the launch of the LP programme tomorrow. Please pray for pastors as they travel, and for Kevin Rietveld, the country coordinator, as they launch the level 1 programme.
Turkey: Turkey (population of 70 million, with only 3000 evangelicals) is hosting events in two cities, with the first from Wednesday to Saturday this week. Please pray for the LP facilitator who is training this week and next, and for the local team setting up the programme; pray that the pastors and lay preachers involved will be encouraged in their work in this demanding country.
Uganda: we have heard from Ugandan local facilitator, Barbara Tumwine, that this week there is preaching training for medical staff and student nurses at Kisiizi Hospital Community, where there is a daily chapel service with preaching from local staff and students. About 4 members have attended the KEST-Langham seminars, and they form the organising team. 54 people have registered for the two-day training, but perhaps not all of them are yet true believers. Please pray for Barbara as she organizes, for effective training, for the ongoing witness in the hospital, and for safe travel for the trainers (Steve, Julius and Ronald) as they drive many miles to the seminar.
Pakistan: the level 1 and 2 seminar is due to take place next week, and there are continuing concerns about the unrest and bombings, since many pastors will need to travel through Lahore. Please pray for the country as a whole, and for wise decisions this week as to whether the event should proceed. Sam Reeve and Paul Windsor will be travelling together next weekend, and Steve Sonneman and Pervaiz Sulatan are the local leaders who will be making final decisions. Good numbers are booked to attend.
East Asia: meetings in Hong Kong this past weekend went very well, and we were grateful for your prayers. Plans are continuing for LP work throughout the region, including the next stage of training with pastors in the Mekong region and in China, as well as the possible launch of work in Indonesia.
Thank you for your prayers.

Thank you for your prayers for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. Here are some items for the week of June 8.
Democratic Republic of Congo: this week our country coordinator Muhindo Isesomo is preaching in the prisons in some of the big cities of DRC – a great opportunity but a very demanding one. Please pray for the ongoing work of Langham Preaching across this vast and needy country.
Solomon Islands: the Langham Preaching programme is due to be launched in the Solomons next week, and one of the LP facilitators due to help, Chris Mulherin, has emailed to indicate that two of his family have suspected swine flu. Chris must make difficult decisions about whether he will be able to travel to be part of the team. Please pray for him and for his family members, specially Lindy and Matt who are unwell and who await test results.
East Asia: this week Jonathan and Paul are in Hong Kong for two meetings. The first is to discuss the plans for the next training programme for pastors from mainland China, due to be held in August. The second is a meeting of the Regional Council for East Asia, when there will be an opportunity to look at the priority needs in the region. We are hoping to sustain the work in Thailand and Myanmar, and to consider requests for LP to work in Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia.
Cari and Julian: this week we bid farewell to Cari Crossley, who has served as the Project Manager for Langham Preaching and has responded to many of your emails! Cari and her husband Julian are moving to the north of England – please join us in thanking God for all of her hard work for the preaching movements around the world, and in praying for them as they join a church in Sheffield and seek appropriate employment.

Dear friends
Thank you for your prayers for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. Here are some items for the week of June 1.
Peru: thank you for praying for the programme last week, when 70 pastors gathered for a level 3 event. The workshops and interaction were of a very high calibre, and there are now 20 preachers’ clubs (‘societies of Bible expositors’) established, several with large numbers of participants. Plans are underway to start societies in other cities. There were also delegates from Brazil, and Igor is discussing the best way of developing something in the north-east of Brazil in the future.
European Bible teachers’ network: last week 30 delegates from different European countries joined Mark and Gavin for the Bible teachers’ track in Hungary, which went extremely well. Please pray for the continuing growth of a Europe-wide network, as well as links with national preaching programmes in the future. Pray for plans for a similar network for preachers linked to European IFES movements.
Kenya: tomorrow, country coordinator Mercy Ireri will travel to Kakamega in western Kenya, where she will spend the week speaking at a pastors’ conference on the subject of ‘Effective Preaching’, at the invitation of a pastor, Wesley, who attended the 2005 Limuru programme. He plans to organize a preaching seminar for these pastors after this initial meeting with them. Please pray for Mercy as she travels many miles by matatu to serve the churches and preachers clubs, encouraging them forward in their work.
Coming up this month: please pray for the final preparations for the launch of Langham Preaching in the Solomon Islands, the two level programme in Pakistan, and the continuing development of training in two cities in Turkey, all of which take place in the next 2 or 3 weeks. More prayer news will follow, but please continue to pray about the unrest in Pakistan, the many people displaced by the fighting, and the plans for the seminar in Murree.
Thank you for your prayers.
